How To Effectively Filter Out Allergens That Can Trigger Asthmatic Reactions

One of the common triggers of asthma that you should stay as far away from as possible is the allergy from DUST.

Dust easily triggers asthma and so should be avoided.

If you have never heard of dust mites, then you are in for a startling revelation. Dust mites are tiny insects that produce this allergy.

I am sure you have never seen one, but they obviously enjoyed your sleep with you tonight.

Surprised? Don’t be because these dust mites are found in all houses, in varying quantities.

They can be found in mattresses, pillows, carpets, and other upholstery furniture.

Don’t be too scared though. They don’t bite, but feed on the shed scales from human skin. Their dust that can be dangerous for your asthmatic condition is inhaled when they excrete.

So, to limit this allergy, do all you can to get rid of as many dust mites as possible from your home.

Note that you can’t completely eliminate all dust mites, but the more you do, the safer you will stay… especially with your asthmatic condition.

The following tips can help you deal with these dust and dust mites-

- It is recommended that you wash all your bedding (your bed sheets, pillowcases, blankets, etc) in very hot water - to kill these dust mites.

- Every bed in your home should be made with wooden or metal kind of frame. This will prevent the dust mites from ’sleeping’ with you each night.

- Your pillows and mattresses should be placed in zippered, dust-proof coverings- to prevent these dust mites from comfortably making their homes there.

- Make it a constant habit of vacuuming your carpets, but don’t do it yourself if you have asthma… get someone else to do it for you.

- Stay away from old articles, boxes and other items that can gather lots of dust. If you no longer need them, throw them away… instead of having them serve as dust collectors.

- Stay away from the use of wood stoves in your home. Also kerosene heaters. They could be seriously problematic dust collectors because of the fumes they emit.

- Use air filter in your home to keep the air clean from dust as much as possible. When using these, make sure you change them occasionally.

- Avoid the use of ceiling fans or other types of fans. Air conditioners should be used instead.

Do all the above and you can reduce the occurrence of asthma by a very large degree.
